Volunteers at the Senior Center provide the heart of the labor to run the Center. It is impossible to completely understand the enormity of this gift.
Astoria Senior Center activities are supported by a large number of selfless volunteers who give their efforts, time and skills, and sometimes even monies. Volunteers not only connect to their community and make it a better place to live, but find it benefits themselves as well. Volunteering just plain feels GOOD! Volunteering has been proven to increase self-confidence and self-esteem. It has also been shown to combat depression and improve physical well-being. Even if you are limited due to lack of transportation, time constraints, disability, or other constraint, there are ways you can help out. The blessing is that those who give also receive.
